Hannah Clarisse: Vote for Ian Goodnow
It is important to have more young Vermonters like Ian in our Legislature: the median age of state representatives in the last session was 58 years old, and less than 4 percent were Ian’s age or younger. Vermont is failing to retain or attract the next generation of professionals needed to replenish our aging workforce and grow our economy. Only 45 percent of Vermont college students stay here after graduating; Ian is among that minority. Ian has experienced firsthand the difficulties faced by those seeking to build a life and career here, making him well-suited to address those issues and steer Vermont toward a more prosperous future.
Moreover, Ian will be an excellent representative for all residents of District 9. I have observed Ian’s love and commitment to Brattleboro during his time on the Selectboard, and I am fortunate to know him on both a personal and professional level. Ian is authentic, earnest, and always eager to listen to his constituents, even when they disagree with his decisions. He acts with both confidence and humility. He is in equal measure a leader and a team player.
